Sometimes the wind under your sails just dies out

Imagine this, you are sailing the oceans in a nice sailboat. The winds are catching nicely on the sails and you are sailing effortlessly. Then suddenly the wind dies out. You are now sitting in a nice boat with the sail all limp and no sign of any wind and you are wondering now what will I do.

Something like this is happening with my diabetes right now. I feel like I was sailing and there was lots of winds helping me coast and suddenly it is all gone. I am sitting in the middle and waiting to see if a new wind comes along so I can take a ride and start moving again.

I hear ya on that one...my wife's Type 1 and she'll sail great for months at a time and the then the wind will change suddenly or just die out completely...You have to be patient at these times and it is hard!

Fenugreek seeds helping keep sugars in check

For the last two months I have been running a test on fenugreek seeds. Back in India, one of the traditional remedies has been to eat fenugreek seeds. In the local language, Hindi, they are known as Methi Seeds. What do I do? Every night I take a spoonful of the seeds and soak it in water. Every morning first thing after I wake up and check my fasting sugars, I eat these soaked seeds. They can be bitter but over time you adjust to them. I just drink all the water and chew up the soaked seeds. Sometimes I need more water to push them down. Results I feel like my post breakfast sugars are down from where I used to be. My feeling is a drop of about 10-20 point. Hypothesis I suspect that the fenugreek seeds probably have some vitamins or minerals that help, but a lot of the help is from the fact that they are so high in fiber. Nyquil got to my diabetes

I have been battling a cold and cough that is really getting to me. The pains in the back are finally gone and today I was able to get back on the treadmill. I had an interesting experience a couple of days ago. To finally be able to sleep, I decided to take Nyquil to get a good sleep. My after dinner sugar number was 151. I took Nyquil later in the night before I went to sleep. Did not eat anything before that. Woke up in the morning and checked my sugars, I was at 157. It was shocking. My morning fasting sugars tend to be in the 120's, not good, but atleast I can predict them. This was totally out of the blue and threw me into a really bad day of high sugars. Now what really happened. I kept thinking about this. I realized it must have been the Nyquil. It has alcohol in it and all is very sweet. The sugars must have gotten to me.
